Artwork launch and "meet the artist" hour - Visual sounds of Finland

1 PM and 5 PM

"Visual sounds of Finland" will be presented at Haltia's main exhibition hall. To visit the main exhibition you will need to purchase an entrance ticket (or present a museum card or Helsinki card).


"Visual sounds of Finland" is an artwork of an Australian artist Andy Thomas which will be opened for public for the first time on Thursday August 11th. The artwork was especially ordered and customized for Haltia and it is categorized as a public media artwork. During the opening event there will be a chance to meet the artist and hear about his work and sources of inspiration.

Andy Thomas creates moving artwork that visually represents sounds in beautiful and abstract ways. 

He is renowned for his representation of bird sounds and travels to various forests around the world to sample nature with his camera and sound recording equipment in order to use the material to create animated artwork using computers and 3D software. The Finnish Nature Centre Haltia is proud to present a series of works by Thomas focusing on several bird species native to Finland.
