Discover Nuuksio by trail

The purpose of the Discover Nuuksio project was to develop visibility and accessibility of Haltia’s and Nuuksio’s hiking services both on site and online, by improving signposts, repairing trails, implementing this website and developing the map service. The project lasted until the end of 2012 and was supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Metsähallitus and Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. Metsähallitus was in charge of implementing the project in cooperation with the municipalities of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and businesses in the Nuuksio area.

Placing the Helsinki metropolitan area's nature on the map

The joint project MenoMapsII by Haltia, Metsähallitus, the Department of Geoinformatics and Cartography at the Finnish Geodetic Institute and Aalto University’s Department of Design at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture is dedicated to developing map services for outdoor recreation by utilising social networks. The project will add the natural and recreational areas of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area to the so-called green-belt database where you can easily search for information on the natural values, history, programme and guide services, equipment rental services as well as recreational services of the various destinations. The Green Belt information will be collected on the Haltia website and  it can also be accessed with the aid of the multi-touch screen at Haltia's Green Belt Exhibition. The information service and website will open at the same time as Haltia on May 31, 2013. Read more about the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Green Belt >
